I'm both amused and insulted by the random twilight related advertisement banners popping up on LJ at the moment. The ones advertising what looks like some kind of love compatibility quiz to see which of the two lead males you'd end up with.

Anywho, I started to feel incredibly unwell mid afternoon today and I'm kind of peeved by the timing. I'd been hoping to enjoy this next handfull of days I've got off work but instead I'll be spending most of them blowing my nose and drinking tea. Damned summer cold/flu. Ah well, I can still sit around and draw/colour all the things I need to do. That and call Acer to whine about their shitty computers and their inability to reformat correctly.

So sore

[info]rowr_paintbrush
I have come home from work today with a couple of wounds lol. The pain I felt on the back of my right ankle all day which I assumed was just soreness from my work shoes rubbing against it turned out to actually be an open wound (yey) and the bruise/s I attained day before yesterday on my right arm got even more bruised (theres literally a bruise on top of the bruise haha) and theres now a scratch or two complimenting them.

Anywho, my whining aside I'm currently organising files on my computer into folders to prepare them for back up. Why you may ask? It is because I'm planning on reformatting my computer. Its been acting way too dodgy recently for my liking and so I feel the time has come for it to get refreshed so-to-speak. Not only that, but I plan to upgrade to Windows 7. Here's to the possibility of slightly better quality lol.

Perhaps its just me making a big deal over things but it almost feels as if I've gone from doing relatively well with things at work to being somewhat failtastic. Its rather frustrating.

Speaking of fail, I got my last Gardasil shot today and the doctor was incredibly dodgy. He didn't bother to disinfect the area beforehand as they're supposed to and he was also rather rude. I was unimpressed.

Random Disney quiz result time:

You Scored as Megara

Witty, smart, and sarcastic - this is so Megara, and also so you! Sometimes that smart mouth can get you into trouble, as well as getting you laughs from the people around you. Be very careful with this sharp tongue - it can hurt feelings and rub people the wrong way. It's no way to keep friends and lovers. You have a lovely strong personality under that sarcasm, let people see it

In other news I ruined a frying pan today by accidently getting plastic melted all over the bottom of it.

Hot glue fume suffocation

So I started working on bits of Keti's Zant costume today. Firstly I made some finger extentions as Zant has creepily deformed hands which I feel the need to include, despite the fact they likely won't be seen. After which I figured I'd try and put together some foam shoe covers while I was already being suffocated by the smell of hot glue and so on. Thus far all I've done is make a 'pattern' for the base of the shoe which still isn't finished as its missing a few things, after which I'll start to layer on the details and so on before painting it.

Stress level is over 9000

So its 1:25am, my hand hurts like hell from writing 30 pages worth of revision notes and my eyes from reading at least double that amount and I'm slowly turning into a large ball of stress. I'm pretty damned sure I'll at least get the 35/60 on this exam that I need to pass this cursed subject but I can't help but freak out each time I think about the fact that this exam is all thats standing between me and my god forsaken degree. I know I'm stressing/freaking out over nothing but I can't help it ;_;
It also doesn't help that I have a job interview the night before the exam/tommorow night which will eat up at least 4-5 hours of time in which I could be franticly studying my ass off (it apparently goes for 2 hours and it'll take a while to travel to and from as its far awayish).

I hope hope hope hope hopppeeee that exam goes well. I really do. Otherwise I'm screwed, screwed I say. I also hope that interview goes well lol. Having income once more will allow me to get my drivers license very soon which would be grand.

I WANNA BE THE VERYYY BEST

I decided that it was time I finished those pokemon trainer costumes for Keti and I today and so as I was pulling out the bits and pieces/searching through my spare fabric bags a thought suddenly occured to me. After sharing it with Keti we decided it had to be done and so began an hour plus of drawing/tracing and cutting out tiny pieces of foam to create the following:

All thats left is for the pieces to be painted, glued together and then mounted on badge bases. We figure we'll each wear 4 of them and or place them on our bags as they're a tad large.

Last assignment evar

[info]rowr_paintbrush
Just submitted my last networking assignment/my lass uni assignment ever. All I've got to go now is the exam in 2 and a bit weeks time and I can kiss uni goodbye.
Though I'll also need to email in and check up on graduation stuff as I'm unsure whether the last batch of graduation applications that closed in July for the October ones was for mid year completion or for those of us finishing now. Everythings been thrown off timing wise because of the whole trimester thing. Either way it doesn't really bother me if I have to wait till early next year to partake in my graduation ceremony as I'll be done one way or another.

I also need to at some point drop by Deakin and grab myself either a t-shirt, jumper or mug depending on how overpriced they are. I decided years ago that I'd grab something in my final semester/year as a token of my time there. Though when I dropped by after my exam last semester the Deakin merchandise store was closed for renovation so I was unable to get anything. So it means that I'll likely have to make a seperate trip as my exam is at Box Hill town hall instead of on campus so I won't have the time to go afterwards (as its due to finish at 5 and Deakin would likely be another hour and a half+ from there at that time of day) and I don't feel brave enough dropping in before hand. Not to mention I'd have to leave said items in a 'bag room'.

Anywho I'm off for some food as I'm starvinggg.

The Demon Pig
content
[info]rowr_paintbrush
Its the title of this quality piece of literature I came across at the library today. Allow me to share with you the blurb:

"Famine grips the realm. Warlords are poised for battle on their borders. From the Fleshless Land, the evil hand of the Queen of the Dead sows havoc and hatred across the Nine Kingdoms. And all the fairy pigs have been cruelly imprisoned by the dread Fungus Folk...except one.
He has no magical powers with which to confront the forces of terror that enslave his world. Yet this rotund, comfort-loving young warrior must venture into dark and terrible places to rescue his people, restore the peace, eliminate the evil pestilence...and, if he's lucky, find time for a bite to eat."

And if that wasn't enticing enough, theres this lovely snippet on the cover that says:
"TO SAVE THE WORLD, A PIG SOMETIMES HAS TO BREAK THE RULES"

After reading these how could I not immediately decide to borrow and read what promises to be an excellent read. I find it hilarious that it was in the adult fiction section and that it does indeed seem to be written for an audience above the age of 10. Quality. What else can I say?

Hill? Don't you mean mountain?

So I was taken along on a school work related trip by Keti today as her other group members are off on some school trip. We were heading out to the Pines flora and fauna reserve nearby and I was told the area we were going to was on a hill. What a pack of lies. It was more like some kind of mountain. To demonstrate this point I took photos:

It doesn't quite convey the epicness of the height but is sufficient. You could see the peninsula building in Frankston/the sea too:

Needless to say it was awkward for me going back down as I'm not all too fond of heights. Though it was an interesting expedition none the less!

Until my last exam and uni is done with! And thankfully said exam is an afternoon one so I won't be on the train at ungodly hours. Though its at box hill town hall lol. Even so thats not so bad as its easier to get to than Deakin/not as many train & tram switch overs.
Ah, it'll be nice not to have uni work to do. So very very nice!

Its been a while since I last posted about anything, so long in fact that I was logged out D:
Anywho I don't have all that much to post about but I felt the need to journal away for the sake of it. I'll be starting work on an assignment that I doubt I'll be able to do all of soon, sending off some resumes later today and hopefully that'll go well.
I finished the new Professor Layton game in about a day/8 and a bit hours which was kind of dissapointing. The plot was also a bit eh and super predictable.

Nearly done
sick
[info]rowr_paintbrush
So I've been doing more sewing over the past few days than I have in a while and things are coming along nicely. Apart from a couple of strips of orange and white to wrap around my arm/wrists/legs and a hat & cat ears my Saturday outfit is done! And Sunday's one isn't too far behind. I just need to make the other glove and pink things that go on them, put the armory bits on the bootcovers, put the cuff on the bottom of the pants and make a belt. Then theres the wigs. Either way it looks like I may be done in time. I also trimmed the rope & tassles for my suzaku outfit today.

I has hammered my fingers
sick
[info]rowr_paintbrush
I was doing the eyelets on the coat for my Zelos costume last night and my left index finger and thumb were very sore by the end of it. Clearly I am incapable of hammering things without taking my fingers with them haha. Several of them turned out wonky as I lost patience with the tool provided in the pack and just hammered straight onto them. But the cord hides it well enough XD

Sacrificial burning
mad
[info]rowr_paintbrush
I propose a sacrificial/ritual burning of my Computer Networks textbook at the end of the year to relieve the anger and frustration it has caused me while at Deakin. The only question is where/how can it be done safely. Either way it must be done. It or the closest thing I can manage. But for now I'm off to bed as its just past 5am and I finally handed in my half done assignment. Mmm, just enough work done to pass. I can't say I was in the mood to calculate the speed of networks or to devise my own atm protocol kthnx. The work I did was a good 3 pages worth anyway. 2 more assignments and one exam to go until sweet freedom!

Shot two!

[info]rowr_paintbrush
I'm off to get my second shot of Gardasil later today. Exciting times. Then there shall only be once more to go after a 4 month wait. Huzzah.

Anyway I kind of slacked off and did all sorts of unrelated things yesterday before finally sitting down and doing more of the painting I had left to work on. The sword is done and sheath needs only another coat of white and the gold.
I then spent the better part of an hour painting the 4-5m of cord. It drove me insannneeee. Then theres the fact that it dried far darker than it did on the sword handle/when it was wet. But as I cannot be bothered spending another hour fixing it it shall remain as is ohoho.

Mmm almost electrocuted
shocked
[info]rowr_paintbrush
I plugged in the electric mixer earlier to whip some thickened cream and when I turned it on there were these awful and loud electrical cracking noises coming from it. It scared the heck out of me and as soon as I realised what it was I leapt at the power point to turn it off lol. It has since been disposed of. That thing was so old I'm surprised it didn't die and try to take someone with it sooner.

Today was rather unproductive. All I really did was gesso and paint stuff & do some other things. On the upside all those clay things are nice and painted/glossy now. Though sadly I destroyed my exphere when sticking it together so I have to resculpt it and recut the foam base.
I'm not even half way through painting the sword & sheath. The sword needs everything but the blade painted and the sheath needs more layers of gesso before it too shall be painted. After that though both are done!

Clay fixes everything
happy
[info]rowr_paintbrush
This is what I have learned whlist making the sword and sheath for my Zelos costume. Chunks missing out of your wood? Wood egdges frayed and filled with small holes? Cut something unevenly so theres a gaping hole where there should be wood? This is not an issue if you have some clay to shove into it. Instead of being utter monstrosities, these props are now reasonably respectable looking thanks to the healing power of clay.
Now I need only wait for it to dry so they can be painted. It excites me to think that they are otherwise complete oho.

Bah to you collar
mad
[info]rowr_paintbrush
I wasted a great deal of time today trying to get the collar for the top I finished yesterday to sit right etc but as it was really irritating me I abandoned it for some reading, dinner and then sculpting. So all I really got done today was the various goods I needed to sculpt, one of which was the hilt of the sword so bar the paint and some possible further sanding of the handle its done. Though I'm still waiting for another decent day without rain or wind so I can go outside and cut the wood for the sheath & sand it.

I'm thinking that tommorow I'll get my assignment done so that it doesn't get shunted into oblivion and lead me to fail haha. Perhaps afterwards I shall try to get that collar working again and failing that I'll get to work on my Zelos boot covers so I can finish the bottom of the pants.
